ACT’s computations showed that more than 90% of public school teachers who occupy Teacher I, II, and III positions are set to receive 5.4% to 6.5% gross pay hikes starting January 2022.
However, with increased tax deductions and mandatory contributions, they will only get to take home net pay increases of 2.8% to 5.3%, which are insufficient to even cover the price hikes in commodities and services.
Still, We are OVERWORKED, UNDERPAID, AND UNSUPPORTED.
The proposed effective date of the Salary Standardization Law V or SSL V Third Tranche is January 1, 2022, according to Senate Bill No. 1219 and House Bill No. 5712. President Rodrigo Duterte signed the bill into effect on January 8, 2020.
