The Department of Education (DepEd) in MalacaƱang has submitted a proposal for the construction of high-rise school buildings in the cities.
DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis-Briones asked President Rodrigo Duterte to construct ten high school buildings.
A letter including an Aide Memoire was sent by the Palace Secretary for this project worth six billion pesos.
I hope this will be included in the budget of the Department for next year.
This can be considered a legacy program of the Duterte administration.
In Aide Memoire drafted by Education Undersecretary Alain Pascua, it is listed that there is classroom shortage in cities reaching 123,994 so it is necessary to build structures for students.
Public elementary and high schools in the National Capital Region, Calabarzon, Central Luzon and Central Visayas have the strictest deficits in classrooms.

Here's the letter sent to President Duterte:

A total of 123, 994 classrooms are still needed to be constructed in all public elementary and secondary schools with remaining classroom requirements.
