Senator Bong Go - Let's give some space to the teachers to rest

Senator Christopher ‘Bong’ Go clarified that the opening of classes for Academic Year 2021-2022 on August 23 is uncertain. Go said the decision on the opening date of the class is still in the hands of President Rodrigo Duterte.

"I am not sure yet because it is still for approval by the IATF and the President," Go said. At the same time, Go said that if he is the one to be followed, it would be better not to rush the opening of the class.

“As for me, let's not be in too much of a hurry. Let's give a little space to our teachers because it is difficult at this time when someone is positive that a teacher or student will have difficulty with contact tracing again because we are now focused on vaccination, ”the senator stressed. At the same time, the legislator insisted that teachers should be given a break so that they can also adjust to the new system implemented in distance learning.

"Let's avoid contamination, let's give some space to the teachers to rest or adjust first because we know they will have a hard time adjusting to our new learning system via virtual," Go explained. The senator reiterated that he does not agree with face-to-face classes as vaccination does not end with the majority of the population.

"As for me, I will not agree to face-to-face classes until the majority of the population is vaccinated. We know that there is a new strain of the virus that affects children, so let's prioritize the health of every child, every Filipino before anything else, ”Go added.
