Longevity Service Incentive Benefit for Public School Teachers

Sorsogon Representative Hon. Evelina Escudero has filed House Bill 2344 which seeks to provide Longevity Service Incentive Benefit to public school teachers in the country except those from colleges and universities.

"In order to assure that the nation would have a generation of talented, intelligent, and values-oriented individuals with love towards their fellowmen and country, we need to have teachers capable and willing to be educators. This bill seeks to give them the incentive to remain as such," she said in her explanatory note.

Under this bill, elementary and secondary teachers with at least 6 months of service will receive an annual incentive which ranges from 10%-100% of their monthly basic salary. It will be given 15 days before the end of the school year or upon retirement or separation of service.

"The LSI Benefit is intended to encourage and reward these teachers as unsung heroes of today. Small amount as it may seem, but it will surely be appreciated by our long-suffering teachers," she added.
