In collaboration with the Ministry of Education of Thailand and Code.org organization, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for STEM Education, or SEAMEO STEM-ED, seek to develop the capacity of educational personnel and policymakers to develop professional skills of teachers and educational personnel in using Artificial Intelligence in the K-12 classroom. Apparently, ChatGPT, or AI, has been actively used and brought into universities/schools. One recommendation from the Unlocking the Power of Generative AI Models and Systems such as GPT-4 and ChatGPT for Higher Education [Gimbel H. et al., 2023] emphasizes teaching students how to use ChatGPT properly is strongly recommended as it is the teaching tool for enhancing the quality of education. Hence, the Guidelines and policies around using AI tools are other critical areas in need of development by many SEAMEO member countries. Addressing the need involves personnel at multiple levels, from policy leaders to educational administrators, school administrators, teachers, and educational supervisors. Building teacher confidence in using new teaching techniques requires the support of school academic leaders/educators, teacher professional learning communities, and education personnel from educational institutions/universities and the Ministry of Education.
