DepEd: Announcing the Department of Education Additional Pool of Illustrators

ANNOUNCING THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION ADDITIONAL POOL OF ILLUSTRATORS

1.Republic Act No. 10533, titled Implementing Rules of Basic Education of2013, Rule II, Section 10.3 states that production and development of locally produced teaching and learning materials shall be encouraged. The approval of these materials shall be devolved to the regional and division education inaccordance with the national policies and standards. The regional office (RO)through the Learning Resources Management Sections (LRMS) and school division offices (SDOs) are mandated to manage development and production of localized learning resources.

 2.To assist the field offices, fulfill the mandate, the Department of Education(DepEd), through the Bureau of Learning Resources (BLR) has organized various capacity building trainings and workshops with the following objectives:

a.create additional pool of DepEd National Illustrators and increase the number of graphic artists nationwide that include designers in the DepEd Memorandum No. 33, s. 2019(Announcing the Department of Education National Pool ofIllustrators) whom the central, regional, and schools division offices shall engage in the development and production of visual arts; and

b. recognize the pool of DepEd National Illustrators for their outstanding accomplishment as authors/ creators of original visual arts in the published learning resources through issuance of Certificate of Recognition.

3.The Additional Pool of DepEd National lliustrators provided in Enclosure No. 1 are DepEd Field Personnel who have been involved in the visual artsproduction of various K to 12 learning resources. They were trained, selected, andrecommended by the resource speakers provided by the National BookDevelopment Board (NBDB) and other experts in the publishing and graphic designindustry during the series of trainings.


4. The additional DepEd National illustrators shall be engaged in the development and production of visual arts of text-based centrally and locallydeveloped learning resources in addition to Basic Education Learning ContinuityPlan learning resources il various formats and platforms.

5. The DepEd National Illustrators shall not be pulled out from their teaching-leaming activities during school days. However, in the event that their services arerequired, they shall attend the orientation to know their deliverables. They shall bea-llowed to bring home their assigned tasks and submit these on agreed schedule.Funds for this purpose shall be charged against the Bureau of Learning Resources,subject to the existing accounting and auditing rules and regulations. Further, acertilicate of recognition shall be given for the valuable service that they will render.
